Off-Track Garage Door Repair in Houston, TX
Rollers back in the track, tracks back to plumb, door back to square.
A door comes off its track for a reason — something backed into it, a cable let go, a roller shattered, or a track has been slowly bending out of alignment for two years. Putting the rollers back without fixing the reason just means it comes off again next month, usually harder. We fix the cause, then the symptom.
What you get
- Door safely supported and de-tensioned before anything is moved
- Bent track sections straightened or replaced, and the whole run re-plumbed
- Rollers, hinges and stems inspected and replaced where they have failed
- Vertical and horizontal track brackets re-shimmed to true
- Full balance and safety-reverse test afterwards
- Honest call on repair versus replacement if a section is bent past saving
How we do it
Support and secure
The door gets locked in position and the spring load managed before any roller comes near a track. An off-track door has hundreds of pounds hanging in an unnatural place.
Find the actual cause
Impact damage, broken cable, shattered roller, loose lag bolts in the track brackets, or a garage slab that has shifted. We will show you which one it was.
Realign, replace, re-square
Rollers reset, track straightened or swapped, brackets re-anchored, door plumbed and levelled, then cycled twenty times under the opener.
Signs you need off-track repair
- The rollers have visibly jumped out of the track
- The door is crooked, jammed diagonally in the opening or scraping the wall
- A loud bang or grinding, then the door stopped mid-travel
- You backed into the door — even lightly
- The door binds in the same spot on every cycle
- Visible bends, dents or gaps in the track

What customers said
“Spring went at 6:40am with my truck inside and I had a 9am in Sugar Land. Called at 7, tech was in the driveway by 8:15, both springs done and I made the meeting. Priced exactly what they said on the phone.”
“We replaced a beat-up builder door with an insulated carriage style. The garage is genuinely cooler now and you can barely hear it open from the kitchen. They showed us renderings on our actual house before we picked.”
“Two other companies quoted me a whole new opener. This guy pulled the cover, showed me the shredded gear, replaced the kit for a fraction of that, and told me the unit had years left. Honest is rare in this trade.”
Off-Track Repair — your questions
Can I put the garage door back on track myself?
Strongly advise against it. The door is still under full spring tension and off-track doors fall. Pinched hands and crushed fingers from exactly this job are one of the most common garage door injuries there is.
How much does off-track repair cost?
$149 to $420 depending on what caused it. A simple realignment with good hardware is at the bottom, and a bent track section plus roller replacement toward the top. If a door section itself is bent we will quote a panel replacement separately.
What knocks a door off its track?
In order: backing into it, a snapped lift cable, a roller that shattered (nylon rollers get brittle and the cheap plastic ones do not survive Houston attics), loose lag bolts in the track brackets, and doors that have been running out of balance long enough to wear one side.
Will my door be the same afterwards?
If the sections are undamaged, yes — better, because we fix the underlying alignment. If a section is creased or the top fixture is torn out, that panel needs replacing and we will show you photos before quoting.
