Everything people ask us, answered.
21 questions covering booking, pricing, repairs, safety and the specific things that Gulf-coast weather does to a garage door.
Booking & response times
How fast can you come out?
Same day for most of Greater Houston on routine repairs, and 60 to 90 minutes for emergencies, 24 hours a day. Call (713) 555-0142 and we will give you a real arrival window plus a text when the truck is moving.
Do you work weekends and holidays?
Regular hours are 7am to 8pm Monday through Saturday and 8am to 5pm Sunday, at standard rates. Emergency dispatch runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year, including holidays.
What counts as an emergency?
A car trapped inside, a door stuck open leaving the house exposed, a door off its track or hanging crooked, a spring that has broken, or storm and break-in damage. If you are unsure, call — we would rather triage it on the phone for free.
Can you help me over the phone?
Often, yes, and we do it regularly. Tripped GFCIs, disengaged trolleys, locked wall consoles and obstructed sensors are all things we can walk you through in four minutes at no charge. We would rather do that than sell you an unnecessary call-out.
Pricing & payment
How much does garage door repair cost in Houston?
Most repairs land between $89 and $450. A single torsion spring is $220 to $380 installed, both springs $380 to $560, a roller set $129 to $240, an opener gear kit $129 to $290 and a new opener $420 to $950. Our full price book is published on the pricing page.
Do you charge for estimates?
New door quotes and replacement estimates are free. Repair visits carry a $59 diagnostic fee covering a full inspection and written quote, credited toward the repair when you proceed.
What payment methods do you take?
Cash, check and all major credit cards, plus financing on larger jobs. Payment is due on completion; new door installations split into a deposit and a balance, both spelled out in the written scope.
Do you offer discounts?
10% off any repair for active duty military, veterans, police, fire and EMS — just mention it when you book, no paperwork needed. Senior discounts and multi-door pricing are also available.
Repairs & safety
Can I replace a garage door spring myself?
Please do not. A torsion spring holds several hundred pounds of stored energy and is wound under tension with steel bars. Broken bones from this exact job are common enough that manufacturers print the warning on the spring itself.
Why do you replace both springs?
They were installed the same day and have taken the same number of cycles. Replacing one guarantees a second service call within a year, and it leaves the door unbalanced in the meantime — which then works its way through your opener.
How long should a repair take?
Springs and cables, 45 to 90 minutes. Openers, one to two hours. Off-track repairs, one to two hours. Panel replacement, two to four hours. A full new door installation is four to six hours.
What is the warranty?
2-year parts and labour warranty on every repair we perform. High-cycle springs carry five years. New doors carry the manufacturer's warranty — typically limited lifetime on sections — plus our labour warranty on the installation.
Do you work on all brands?
Every residential door brand sold in Texas — Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton, Overhead Door, CHI, Raynor, Northwest — and every major opener: LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Craftsman, Linear, Sommer and Marantec.
Texas & the Gulf coast
Do I need a hurricane-rated garage door?
In the windstorm-designated coastal counties — Galveston, Brazoria, Chambers and the coastal tier — it is a code requirement on new and replacement doors. Inland Harris County is not always required to, but the garage door is the single most likely point of catastrophic envelope failure in a storm, and insurers increasingly reward rated doors.
Why do springs fail faster in Houston?
Gulf humidity keeps a film of moisture on bare steel almost year-round. Rust creates pitting, pitting creates a stress riser, and the crack starts there — so springs here often fail before reaching their rated cycle count. Annual lubrication genuinely slows it down.
Is an insulated door worth it in Texas?
On an attached garage, clearly yes. An uninsulated steel door turns a Houston garage into a 130-degree box that radiates into your living space all evening. An R-13 door plus a sealed bottom typically drops garage temperature 15 to 20 degrees and cuts door noise sharply.
My garage flooded — what should I check?
Bottom brackets, lift cables, sensor wiring and the opener logic board, in that order. Flood damage to door hardware shows up one to six months later, not the day after, which is exactly why it catches people out. We provide written assessments and photos for flood claims.

Start from the symptom
Garage Door Won't Open
A door that refuses to lift is almost always one of five things — and two of them you can rule out from your driveway in about ninety seconds.
$89 – $480 Call todayGarage Door Won't Close
A door that opens fine but refuses to close is a safety-system problem nine times out of ten — and the safety system is usually right to be worried about something.
$89 – $290 Stop using itBroken Garage Door Spring
If you heard a bang from the garage and the door is now immovable, a torsion spring has broken. This is the most common garage door failure there is, and the most dangerous one to attempt yourself.
$220 – $560 Stop using itGarage Door Off Track
A door hanging crooked in its opening has hundreds of pounds of steel in a position it was never engineered to hold. Every cycle from here makes it worse and more dangerous.
$149 – $420Noisy Garage Door
A garage door should be a hum, not an announcement. Most noise comes from three cheap parts, and the fix is usually under $250 — far less than the new opener most people assume they need.
$79 – $290Garage Door Opener Not Working
Work through it in order — power, then trolley, then gear, then board. Two of the four steps are free, and a surprising number of "dead openers" are back in service in five minutes.
$129 – $700
